![]() That inconsistency removes one star and another for being too short an e-book to sink into with emotion. It came out in March 2011 and “ The Amersham Rubies” immediately said in May 2011, that Molly lost her Mom at age 14. As an absorber of details, I knew that was off and checked the publishing dates, to see what duration accounted for the authoress ’ memory slip. “Bless The Bride” claimed Molly knew only basic sewing because her Mom died when Molly was 10. We see how quickly she works out puzzles when she observes and assesses odd incidents. One prosperous moneylender has already been killed by a mob as the novel opens, his co-religionists are under royal protection, waiting out the hysteria behind castle walls. The victims were all children, and a hue and cry has been raised against the Jews of the region, in accordance with the allegations of blood libel. Mistress of the Art of Death starts out with a convoluted premise: at the request of England’s King Henry II, the King of Sicily has sent a deputation to Cambridge to investigate a series of murders. My reservations evanesced as I fell under the spell of Rosalyn Landor’s reading. As I often do in cases like this, I decided to try the audiobook. But two people whose opinion I value highly urged me to give it another shot. I was bothered mainly by the tone, which seemed ironic, with an overlay of slapstick thrown in for good measure. The first time I tried to read this novel, I didn’t make it past the first three or four pages. ![]() Januat 2:19 am ( Book review, Historical fiction, Mystery fiction) Mistress of the Art of Death, by Ariana Franklin ![]() ![]() ![]() Since then the imprint releases approximately four books a year. Riordan's editor Stephanie Owens Lurie noted that he did not have enough time to write novels on every mythology and that "he feels that, in some instances, the books his readers are asking for him to write are really someone else's story to tell". Prior to the announcement of the imprint in September 2016, Riordan was frequently approached by readers and fans of his mythology-based series, asking when he would write novels based on other mythologies. Books released through the imprint would be edited by Riordan and have a short introduction written by him. He later responded to Disney stating that he wanted to launch an imprint that would "find, nurture, and promote the best storytellers for middle grade readers" and "focus on diverse, mythology-based fiction by new, emerging, and under-represented authors". The thrill only continued with the second book “Thunderhead,” and finally, after finishing the last book in the series “The Toll,” I have come to one conclusion. After picking up “Scythe” the first book in this series, I was hooked. There are few things more satisfying for a reader than being able to read a new series from book one through to the last book without stopping. Deciding to take a chance on a series I never read that was coming to an end in 2019 I jumped into the Arc of a Scythe book series by Young Adult Award-winning author Neal Shusterman. With the end of the year fast approaching, I stopped and looked at the many great book series coming to an end. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The Ts'liches are the main antagonists of this trilogy.
